Artist Biography
BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT: Since 2004, Jane Zich has created hundreds of mixed media paintings in her Vision Journey series. Selections of her visionary artwork have been published in international periodicals such as Jung Journal: Culture & Psyche and Dream Time (a publication of the International Association for the Study of Dreams). Her artwork has been featured on the cover of American Psychologist, Dream Time, Jung Journal: Culture & Psyche, and Permafrost Magazine as well as inside fine art and literary reviews such as Agave, Catamaran Literary Reader, Fiction Fix, Gambling the Aisle, Ignatian, Lone Mountain Literary Society Magazine, Metonym Journal, Midwest Review, Pensive: A Journal of Spirituality & the Arts, Reed Magazine, Sand Hills Literary Literary Magazine, Saranac Review, Still Point Arts Quarterly, Stonecoast Review, Stonecrop Magazine, Trickster Literary Journal, The Pacific Review, West Marin Review, and Winter Tangerine Review, and in Shadow: Touching the Darkness Within, a book of archetypal art and literature (Tarcher Press, 2003).
Jane’s paintings have been awarded prizes in national, regional, and San Francisco Bay Area juried art exhibitions. She has worked as an illustrator, book cover design artist, and cartoonist. She earned her Master’s of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in the Creative Writing Program (Fiction Division) of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her children’s book, Ferdy Fungus Finds Adventure, combines her work as writer and illustrator. Her writings on the creative process have been published in Dream Time, Jung Journal: Culture & Psyche, Manifest Press’s 9th International Drawing Annual (INDA 9), and Manifest Press’s 6th International Photography Annual (INPHA 6). Her book PANTHER TRACKS Lessons from the Vision Journey Paintings was selected as a Finalist in the Fine Art category by the 20th National Indie Excellence Award (NIEA) panel (2026).
